The project consists of a new multi-denominational chapel for an independent liberal arts college related to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The simplicity and truthfulness of symbolic materials, as well as honesty of expression, emphasize the design’s spiritual nature. The sense of journey is reinforced through the con- trasting textures of both honed and cleft face slate set in an alternating rhythmic pattern.
