Assistant Interior Designer
Shelby Weber originally joined the Desmone team for a semester-long internship in our Interior Design department. She is now a full time Interior Designer. She attended La Roche College and graduated in May of 2014 with a bachelor’s in Interior Design and a minor in Sustainable Studies. Of her time here, Shelby says, “I provide assistance to Interior Designers and Architects on residential and commercial projects. Specifically, I review plans, complete computer drawings, select finishes and assemble presentation boards. As an interior design student in a multidisciplinary firm, it helped me learn the design process from an interior, architectural, and business standpoint.”
Being involved in many different aspects of the design process, Shelby admits that her favorite step is concept development and space planning. She says, “I enjoy developing project concepts and diving into the meaning behind every design decision. Space planning is like solving a puzzle of design requirements. I am a problem solver, who loves finding solutions. Once the puzzle is solved, I love being able to enhance space planning by reiterating the concept structurally.”
Shelby was named as one of the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges 2013” and she is currently a member of the Green Building Alliance Emerging Professionals, American Society for Interior Designers (ASID), and the Interior Design Legislative Coalition of Pennsylvania. She is also the President and Founder of the student organization ECODesign which focuses their efforts on sustainable design initiatives on La Roche’s campus. Shelby is originally from Kennett Square, PA, but is currently residing in the North Hills while she finishes her schooling.
