With international design experience, including LEED Platinum world headquarters for Jindal Steel/JSW, in Mumbai, India, Joe Beerens brings an extensive and diverse skill set to Desmone. Along with working with clients and building coordinators to develop programs and objectives for projects, he has written RFPs (requests for proposals), managed architects and engineers and overseen all project phases on time and on budget. His interior design expertise is also reflected in “walkable” communities and in condominiums in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware as well as in commercial buildings and renovations, especially colleges and universities, throughout the Eastern and Midwestern United States.
Since his arrival at Desmone in 2015, Joe has served as a jack-of-all-trades, working in project management, quality assurance/control and specification writing. Recent projects include Forbes Avenue Apartments, 138 units and 295 beds in a one-price multifamily product targeted to college students. 400 5th Avenue, a former Macy’s department store slated for residences, shopping, a restaurant and more.
“My initial love of design came observing nature and my love of construction resulted from building dog houses as a boy,” Joe says. So it’s no surprise that in his leisure time, he’s creating a free piston Stirling engine to run off of a wood- burning stove to supplement existing solar panels. “I always look forward to the opportunity to create.”
