Rehabilitating the former facilities and site of St. Leo Church on Pittsburgh’s North Side, Desmone Architects is collaborating with the Sisters of Divine Providence to expand an existing outreach program by providing a new center of community on the grounds of a vacated parish church.  Renovating the existing 18,000-square-foot school and providing a 10,500-square-foot addition will transform the existing facility into a comprehensive family support center providing daycare, preschool, after-school, summer camp, and women’s programs.  Upon demolition of the existing church and rectory buildings, the available site will provide an accessible recreation area in an otherwise dense urban fabric.
